Two Injured in L.A. Jet Bridge Collapse
August 25, 2011
All of American Airlines’ jet bridges at the Los Angeles International Airport require inspection after a jet bridge collapsed on Wednesday, injuring two people.
Airline officials are investigating the cause of the bridge collapse, which injured the pilot and a passenger of Flight 557 as they were disembarking a Boeing 737 arriving from Boston.
According to an airline spokesperson, the pilot and passenger fell nearly 10 feet to the tarmac as they were stepping onto a platform adjacent to the jet bridge.
The injured were transported to a local hospital for treatment of pain in their ankles, backs and necks.
A Federal Aviation Administration will conduct an inspection of the aircraft for any potential damage.
